Below the temple podium, a stepped platform (suggestive of a sacrificial altar or temple steps) is rendered in perspective, with additional small objects or figures at the base on either side. The reverse legend is divided across the field to either side of the temple colonnade. The composition reflects Hadrian's well-documented veneration of Hercules as an imperial patron deity. |
