Reverse description Minerva, the patron goddess of Domitian, depicted standing left in full figure, helmeted and draped, holding a thunderbolt in her extended right hand and an upright spear in her left; a large round shield rests at her side. The goddess is rendered in a statuesque, classicising style with finely engraved drapery falling to her feet. The reverse legend encircles the field, divided on either side of the standing figure. The composition reflects Domitian's well-documented devotion to Minerva, who appears prominently across his coinage throughout his reign.
