The portrait is rendered with refined sculptural detail, presenting Agrippina with dignified, idealised features befitting her exalted dynastic status as mother of the reigning emperor. The bust is truncated at the shoulder, set within a beaded border. The encircling Latin legend, reading clockwise, identifies her as the mother of Gaius Caesar Augustus Germanicus, serving as a posthumous honorific tribute issued by her son Caligula. |
