Reverse description A rectangular altar depicted in three-quarter architectural perspective, surmounted by volute scrolls at each upper corner and framed by multiple horizontal mouldings along the top cornice and stepped base. The inscription is arranged in three lines within the central panel of the altar face: FORTVN REDV / CAESARI AVG / S P Q R. The composition commemorates the Ara Fortunae Reducis dedicated by the Senate and Roman people to celebrate Augustus's safe return from the eastern provinces in 19 BC. The field surrounding the altar is plain.
