| Obverse description | The obverse field bears a bold Arabic religious and commemorative legend executed in fluid nasta'liq-influenced calligraphy, reading 'Al-khayr fima waqa'a bi-tarikh 1150' (meaning 'The best is in what has come to pass, dated 1150 AH'). The Hijri date 1150 appears prominently in the lower portion of the central field. The entire inscription is enclosed within a single circular inner border, itself surrounded by a well-defined outer dotted border of uniform raised beads, characteristic of Afsharid hammered gold coinage. The flat, irregular flan displays the natural surface texture typical of hand-struck gold issues of the period. |
