| Descrizione del rovescio | The reverse depicts two right hands clasped together in a handshake (dextrarum iunctio), a classical symbol of fidelity and mutual pledge, surmounted by a caduceus entwined with two serpents and flanked by two wheat ears, emblematic of Fides Publica and the abundance of the Roman state. The senatorial mark of authority, S C (Senatus Consultum), appears in the lower field to either side of the central device, affirming the senate's authorization of this bronze coinage. The legend FIDES PVBLICA is distributed around the periphery of the flan. The composition is bold and centrally placed, executed in the vigorous relief typical of early Flavian aes coinage. |
