| Description du revers | A togate priest standing to the right drives a yoke of two oxen advancing to the left, performing the ritual act of ploughing the sacred boundary (sulcus primigenius) of the colonial foundation. The priest holds a goad or staff in his right hand and guides the plow with his left. The legend is distributed around the field and in the exergue, naming the two duoviri M. Cato and L. Vettiacus along with the colonial abbreviation C C A (Colonia Caesar Augusta) and II VIR in the lower exergue, referencing the local magistrates responsible for the issue. The scene alludes to the founding of Caesaraugusta (modern Zaragoza) and is enclosed within a beaded border. |
