In his extended right hand he holds a patera over a flaming altar, performing a libation; in his left hand he carries a cornucopiae, symbolising abundance and divine favour. The figure is depicted togate or draped in a manner consistent with senatorial or divine personifications on Neronian aes coinage. The reverse legend GENIO AVGVSTI is disposed in the field, with S C (Senatus Consultum) flanking the central type, confirming senatorial authorisation for the bronze issue. |
