| Obverse description | Radiate head of Nero facing right, rendered with characteristic thick neck and heavy features typical of Neronian portraiture. The radiate crown — seven rays emanating from the diadem — encircles the emperor's elaborately coiffed hair, consistent with his later numismatic imagery. The portrait is executed in high relief with a broad, fleshy profile. The encircling Latin legend runs clockwise around the periphery of the flan, framed by an inner bead border. The coin was struck on an irregular bronze flan, as was common for Julio-Claudian aes coinage. |
