| Aanvullende informatie |
Galba's reign lasted seven months before his murder on the Palatine Hill in January 69 AD — the first emperor to fall in the Year of the Four Emperors. His bronze issues are accordingly scarce, and RIC I 307 is among the more difficult senatorial bronzes of the period to locate in any grade. The SC attribution confirms authorization through the Senate, a formality Galba leaned on heavily to project constitutional legitimacy after seizing power through military force.
Dies for his Roman mint bronzes show considerable variation in workmanship, likely reflecting the disruption of Nero's death and rapid reorganization of mint staff under the new regime.
