Obverse description Bare head of Augustus facing right, rendered in the restrained Classical style characteristic of Augustan portraiture. The effigy displays the emperor's idealized features with a laurel wreath absent, presenting the head bare as was customary for this series. The surrounding field is heavily worn and encrusted with green patina, obscuring portions of the peripheral legend. The obverse legend CAESAR AVGVSTVS TRIBVNIC POTEST runs along the outer rim, proclaiming Augustus's tribunician power.
