| Obverse description | Laureate, cuirassed and paludamentum-draped bust of Antoninus Pius facing right, rendered three-quarter from the rear, with the drapery of the paludamentum visible over the left shoulder. The legend ΑΝΤΩΝΙΝΟ(Ϲ) ϹΕΒ ΕΥϹΕ surrounds the effigy, identifying the emperor by his title Sebastos Eusebes. The portraiture is typical of Alexandrian tetradrachm coinage of regnal year 22, executed in the provincial hammered style. |
