| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, with drapery visible on the left shoulder. A crescent symbol appears to the right of the portrait in the field. The peripheral Greek legend reads ΑΥΤ ΚΑΙ ΤΡΑΙ - ΑΔΡΙΑ ϹΕΒ, abbreviated imperial titulature identifying the emperor as Autocrator Caesar Trajanus Hadrianus Sebastos. The portrait is rendered in the Hellenistic-Roman tradition characteristic of Alexandrian coinage, with finely modelled facial features and a pronounced laurel wreath. |
