| Beschrijving keerzijde | Draped bust of the personification of Alexandria facing right, wearing the distinctive elephant scalp headdress — a hallmark type of Alexandrian civic coinage. The elephant scalp is shown with the trunk curling over the brow, and drapery falls from the shoulder. To the left of the bust appears the regnal year marker L (the Egyptian symbol for 'year'), and to the right the Greek numeral Γ (3), together indicating regnal year 3 of Hadrian's reign, corresponding to 118–119 AD. The reverse field is plain, with a beaded border visible at the periphery. |

This is a Year 3 issue from Hadrian's Alexandria mint, struck in the immediate aftermath of the Jewish revolt suppression and Hadrian's early reorganization of Roman Egypt's administrative structure. The regnal year dating system used at Alexandria — unique among Roman provincial mints — means this piece can be pinned to a twelve-month window with unusual precision, something most provincial silver cannot offer.
Milne 605 places it among the earlier Hadrianic tetradrachms before the silver content began its gradual but measurable decline across subsequent regnal years.
