| Descrizione del rovescio | Youthful bust of Harpocrates facing right, the Egyptian god of silence and childhood depicted with his characteristic attribute: the right hand raised with index finger pressed to the lips in the traditional gesture of silence. At his shoulder appears a caduceus, the herald's staff entwined with serpents, associating the deity with Hermes-Mercury and signifying divine communication and protection. The reverse legend denotes the regnal year in Greek. The rendering reflects the syncretic Greco-Egyptian religious iconography prevalent on Alexandrian coinage under Hadrian. |
