Obverse description Draped bust of Empress Tranquillina facing right, wearing a stephane (diadem) and an elaborately braided coiffure. The effigy displays fine drapery at the shoulder and upper arm, rendered in the characteristic Alexandrian provincial style. A circular Greek legend surrounds the bust within the fields of the coin.

Reverse description Facing right, the bearded head of the syncretic deity Ammon-Zeus, identifiable by the characteristic curling ram's horn at the temple and a modius or solar headdress atop the crown, rendered in bold high relief in the Alexandrian tradition. To the left of the head in the field stands the regnal year marker L (Egyptian dating formula), and to the right the numeral Ϛ (digamma, denoting year 6 of Gordian III's reign). A dotted border frames the reverse field.
