In her extended right hand she holds a wreath, while her left arm rests upon a tall column and grasps a long sceptre or caduceus. To the left of the central figure, a six-pointed or eight-rayed star occupies the field, serving as an additional symbolic device. The legend ΕΛΕΥΘΕΡΙΑ is inscribed around the periphery, identifying the allegorical figure and reflecting the political message of liberty proclaimed at the outset of Galba's accession. |
