Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Trajan facing right, rendered in the Hellenistic-Egyptian style typical of Alexandrian coinage. The laureate wreath is clearly articulated with fine engraving, and the portrait displays the characteristic strong features of Trajan. The encircling Greek legend reads ΑΥΤ ΤΡΑΙΑΝ ϹΕΒ ΓΕΡΜ ΔΑΚΙΚ, abbreviating his imperial titles of Autokrator, Sebastos, Germanicus, and Dacicus. A dotted border frames the design around the coin's periphery.
