| Beschrijving voorzijde | Laureate head of Antoninus Pius facing right, with traces of drapery visible at the truncation of the neck. The effigy displays the emperor's characteristic full beard and mature facial features rendered in the Alexandrian provincial style. The circumferential Greek legend reads ΑΝΤωΝΙΝΟ(Ϲ) ϹΕΒ ΕΥϹΕΒ, identifying the emperor by name with the titles Sebastos (Augustus) and Eusebes (Pius). The die work is typical of the Alexandrian mint, with a somewhat broad, flat flan and irregular planchet edges. |
