| Beschrijving keerzijde | Standing figure of Spes (Hope) facing left, rendered in a schematic style characteristic of late Gallic Empire coinage. The goddess is depicted raising her robe with one hand and holding a flower or bud upward with the other, her standard iconographic attributes. The reverse legend SPES AVGG encircles the figure, invoking the hope of the two Augusti — that is, Tetricus I and Tetricus II — affirming dynastic continuity. The field is heavily worn and the flan irregular, with a beaded border partially visible around the periphery. The composition and die execution reflect the debased, high-volume production typical of the Cologne mint during the final years of the Gallic Empire. |
