| Beschrijving keerzijde | Jupiter stands facing right, extending a globe in his right hand and holding a vertical sceptre in his left, confronting Hercules who stands to the left bearing his club and the Nemean lion's skin over his arm. The composition symbolises the divine patronage of the two ruling Augusti under the Diocletianic tetrarchic theology, with Jupiter (Iovius) protecting Diocletian and Hercules (Herculius) protecting Maximianus. A mint-mark appears in the field and the exergue carries the officina and purity mark XXI, denoting a 1-in-20 silver alloy. The reverse legend encircles the scene along the coin's border. |
