| Beschrijving voorzijde | Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of the deified emperor Claudius II Gothicus facing right, wearing a radiate crown characteristic of the antoninianus denomination. The effigy is rendered in a crude, barbarous style typical of unofficial imitations, with simplified facial features and coarse die-cutting. The surrounding legend is largely illegible or absent, as is common with barbarous radiates of this type. The flan is irregular and of noticeably reduced weight and module compared to official Roman issues. |
