Obverse description Full-length frontal figure of Saint John the Baptist standing in the field, depicted in long robes with detailed drapery, his right hand raised in blessing and his left hand holding a small Agnus Dei (Lamb of God) figure. A nimbus surrounds the bearded head of the saint. The surrounding legend reads S IOHANNIS B in Gothic Latin characters, distributed across both sides of the figure within a beaded inner border. The style closely follows the Florentine florin prototype, with a hieratic, elongated treatment of the saint characteristic of 14th-century Italian-influenced ecclesiastical coinage.
