The layout follows the standard heraldic albus reverse convention of the Lower Rhine region, with the escutcheons clearly differentiated in the field. A surrounding uncial Latin legend references the mint authority of Valkenburg, running between the polylobed frame and the outer beaded border. The irregular flan edges are typical of hand-struck medieval silver coinage. |
