| Beschrijving keerzijde | The goddess Cybele, Magna Mater, stands facing in full figure, clad in long robes and crowned with the distinctive turreted kalathos, her arms extended to either side. She is flanked by two lions, one to her left and one to her right, rendered in profile facing outward, emblematic of her role as mistress of wild nature and protectress of cities. The composition is centered on the broad flan with the abbreviated Greek magistrate's legend placed in the field. The style is characteristic of the civic bronze coinage of Attuda in Caria during the Severan period. |

Attuda was a minor Phrygian city of limited political weight, but its civic coinage under Septimius Severus reflects the broader scramble among Asia Minor municipalities to demonstrate loyalty following the civil wars of 193 AD — the Year of the Five Emperors. The magistrate name partially preserved in the ΕΠΙ legend would have been a local strategos or grammateus, responsible for financing the issue, often at personal expense.
At 45.87 g and 47 mm, this is a medallion-scale civic bronze, almost certainly struck for ceremonial distribution rather than everyday exchange.
