Reverse description The nymph Adrasteia strides vigorously to the right, her head turned back to the left, cradling the infant Zeus in her arms while raising an inflated peplos above her head with both hands, her right foot planted upon a rock inscribed with the abbreviated legend. Three helmeted Corybantes dance energetically around her, each brandishing a raised shield and striking it with a sword in the ritual noise-making gesture intended to conceal the infant god's cries. Flanking the central scene, two reclining river gods are depicted on either side, each leaning upon a water urn from which streams flow, and holding a reed. An additional uncertain recumbent figure appears in the background, adding depth to this elaborate mythological composition set within a beaded border.
