In the lower exergual register, two river gods recline facing one another, each holding a cornucopiae and a reed, likely personifying the Rhyndacus and Macestus rivers associated with the Cyzicene territory. The elaborate design reflects the prestige of Cyzicus as a twice-neocorate city. |
