| Opis rewersu | A circular domed or turreted building with a closed gate is depicted in elevation at the centre of the field, likely representing a prominent sanctuary or neokorate temple of Cyzicus. Atop the roof stand three statues of Demeter, each carrying torches, emphasising the city's close cultic ties to the goddess. Flanking the building on either side are two large torches entwined by serpents, further reinforcing the Eleusinian-Demeter iconographic programme. The legend ΚΥΖΙΚΗΝΩΝ ΝΕΟΚΟΡΩΝ encircles the design, proclaiming Cyzicus's prestigious status as a city holding the neokorate. The overall composition is ambitious in scale and detail, befitting this large provincial bronze medallion-type issue. |
