The animal is depicted in a static pose, occupying the central field of the flan. The encircling legend ΑΔΡΙΑΝΩΝ ΚΙΑΝΩΝ, reading in the Greek exergual and field areas, identifies the issuing civic authority as the Hadrianic Cians, referencing the city of Cius in Bithynia, which had been refounded or honored under Hadrian.
