| Descrizione del rovescio | The enthroned figure of Cybele, the Great Mother goddess, is depicted seated facing left upon a throne, holding a long sceptre in one hand while resting her opposite arm upon a tympanum (ritual drum) placed beside her. The composition reflects the prominent cult of Cybele in the Lydian region, where the goddess enjoyed particular veneration. The ethnic legend ΤΡΙΠΟΛΕΙΤΩΝ encircles the field, identifying the issuing city of Tripolis. The overall die work is consistent with the provincial bronze coinage of Asia Minor under Gordian III. |
