| Obverse description | Confronted laureate, draped, and cuirassed busts of Caracalla (left) and Geta (right) facing one another, both rendered with characteristic provincial portraiture. The larger bust at left displays a bearded profile with paludamentum and muscled cuirass adorned with a gorgoneion, while the smaller bare-headed bust of Geta faces right in a youthful portrait. A Greek legend arcs around the upper field reading ΑΥ ΚΑΙ ΜΑΡ ΑΥ ΑΝΤΩΝ, identifying the imperial co-heirs. The confronted bust type is a hallmark of civic pride in the eastern provincial coinage of the Severan period. |
