The composition reflects the syncretic religious character of Carian Tabae, where Hellenic and Anatolian cult traditions were honoured jointly. The reverse legend, naming the archon Apollonios and the city of Tabae, runs around the periphery. The figures are rendered in the robust, somewhat provincial style typical of Carian bronze coinage of the Severan period. |
