The civic ethnic legend ΜΑΓΝΗΤΩΝ is inscribed around the field, attributing the issue to the city of Magnesia ad Maeandrum. The composition is a common civic type affirming dynastic harmony on provincial bronzes of the period. The figures are rendered in the formal, frontal style characteristic of Ionian provincial die engraving under the Antonines. |
