| Beschrijving keerzijde | Full-length standing figure of Athena, draped in a peplos and rendered in the classical Greek style, facing right and holding an upright spear in her right hand while bearing a round shield on her left arm. The goddess stands on a ground line, occupying the central field of the coin. The dedicatory Greek legend ΙΕΡΩΝΥΜΟϹ ΑΝΕΘΗΚΕ ΚΥΜΑΙΟΙϹ is distributed around the periphery of the field, recording that a local benefactor named Hieronymos dedicated this issue to the citizens of Cyme. The composition reflects the civic religious iconography typical of provincial bronze coinage from the Conventus of Smyrna under Hadrian. |
