| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Severus Alexander facing left, depicted in heroic military guise holding a spear over his right shoulder and a decorated oval shield, the effigy rendered in the frontal three-quarter perspective characteristic of later Severan provincial coinage. The circumferential Greek legend runs around the bust within the coin's field. |

| Reverse description | The mythological figure of Europa, draped and seated sidesaddle upon a walking bull moving to the right, rendered in the classical Greek tradition that was a favored civic type of Amaseia. Europa is depicted with billowing drapery, her body turned slightly toward the viewer, grasping the bull's horn or drapery for support. The surrounding Greek legend, arranged in multiple lines and around the periphery, records the city name ΑΜΑϹΙΑϹ along with the civic titulature and the regnal year ϹΛΔ (year 234 of the Pontic era, corresponding to AD 231/232). |
