| Opis rewersu | Asclepius, the god of medicine, stands frontally on a high architectural base at centre, his head turned to the left, holding his serpent-entwined staff (caduceus-staff). Flanking the base are two reclining river-gods: Seleinous on the left and Keteios on the right, each facing inward toward Asclepius, resting upon an overturned water-urn and holding a cornucopia and a branch — symbols of fertility and abundance associated with these local Pergamene rivers. In the exergue below, two wreaths are depicted, alluding to the city's neokorate honour. The multi-line reverse legend names the strategus T. Cl. Aristeus and identifies Pergamum as holder of the second neokorate. |
