Obverse description Laureate bust of Marcus Aurelius, draped in paludamentum and cuirass, facing right and seen from the rear, with a long beard rendered in flowing curls — a portrait style characteristic of his later reign. The imperial effigy is executed in the robust provincial style typical of Pergamene bronzes, with fine detail in the hair and facial features. The obverse legend encircles the bust, identifying the emperor in Greek.

Reverse description Asclepius, the god of medicine, stands frontally on a high architectural base at centre, his head turned to the left, holding his serpent-entwined staff (caduceus-staff). Flanking the base are two reclining river-gods: Seleinous on the left and Keteios on the right, each facing inward toward Asclepius, resting upon an overturned water-urn and holding a cornucopia and a branch — symbols of fertility and abundance associated with these local Pergamene rivers. In the exergue below, two wreaths are depicted, alluding to the city's neokorate honour. The multi-line reverse legend names the strategus T. Cl. Aristeus and identifies Pergamum as holder of the second neokorate.
