To the left, Asclepius stands facing with his head turned to the left, holding his serpent-entwined staff (kerykeion) in his left hand. To the right, the personification of Pergamos, depicted as a bearded, nude male figure, stands facing with head turned left, extending his right hand to crown Asclepius with a wreath while holding a long sceptre in his left hand. This iconographic pairing underscores Pergamum's celebrated association with the cult of Asclepius and civic pride.
