| Obverse description | Laureate bust of Emperor Trajan facing right, draped and cuirassed, rendered in the Alexandrian provincial style with bold, high-relief portraiture. The emperor's head bears a laurel wreath, and the truncation of the bust reveals the paludamentum fastened at the shoulder over a cuirass. The Greek legend runs around the periphery of the flan, partially obscured by the coin's irregular edge and surface wear. The portrait displays the characteristic strong-jawed, slightly aged physiognomy associated with Trajanic Alexandrian tetradrachm and bronze coinage. |

| Reverse description | The emperor Trajan, laureate and in military dress, seated left on a curule chair (sella curulis), holding a small figure of Nike in his extended right hand and a long sceptre in his left. To the left of the throne stands a bound captive in a submissive posture, and behind the captive rises a trophy of arms. The composition is a standard imperial triumphal type emphasising Roman dominion over conquered peoples, consistent with Alexandrian bronze issues of regnal year 18. The reverse field shows the date legend L ΙΗ. |
