Obverse description Radiate and cuirassed bust of Emperor Trajan Decius facing right, viewed from the front, with a gorgoneion (Gorgon's head apotropaic device) prominently displayed on the breastplate of the cuirass. The portrait exhibits the characteristic radiating crown associated with the imperial solar iconography of the mid-3rd century. The bold, high-relief modeling reflects provincial die-cutting traditions of the Samian mint under the Conventus of Miletus. The encircling legend identifies the emperor by his full titulature in Greek characters.
