| Beschrijving keerzijde | Two deities stand in juxtaposition within the field: at left, Tyche is depicted standing facing left, holding a ship's rudder in her right hand and a cornucopia in her left, emblematic of the city's fortune and prosperity. At right, Dionysus stands facing left, extending a cantharus over a panther crouching at his feet, while his left arm, bearing a thyrsus, rests upon a column. The composition reflects the syncretic religious character of the Myrinaean civic coinage under the Severan dynasty. The reverse legend in Greek identifies the issuing magistrate and the civic ethnic. |
