| Beschrijving keerzijde | A two-column temple façade encloses a seated figure of Sarapis facing left, depicted enthroned and holding a long sceptre in his left hand, wearing the modius (kalathos) crown characteristic of the deity. At his feet crouches Cerberus, the three-headed guardian of the underworld, a common attribute in Alexandrian representations of Sarapis. The regnal year legend appears in the field, dating the issue to year 12 of Antoninus Pius. The composition reflects the syncretic religious iconography distinctive of Roman-period Alexandrian coinage. |
