Beschrijving voorzijde Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Valerian facing right, rendered in three-quarter view seen from the rear, a presentation typical of provincial coinage of the mid-third century AD. The emperor's laureate wreath is clearly rendered atop the head, with the paludamentum (military cloak) visible over the cuirass, conveying both imperial and martial authority. The encircling Greek legend runs clockwise around the obverse field. The overall style is characteristic of the civic mint at Mytilene, with bold, somewhat provincial die-cutting.

Beschrijving keerzijde Tyche, the personification of civic fortune, stands facing left in full figure, draped in a long chiton and himation. In her extended right hand she holds a rudder, symbol of divine guidance over the city's destiny, while her left hand bears a Dionysiac herm, an attribute particularly appropriate to Mytilene given the island of Lesbos's strong association with Dionysiac cult. The figure is rendered in a dignified, frontal-leaning stance characteristic of Mytilenean civic types of the Valerianic period. The Greek reverse legend encircles the field, divided by the figure, naming the local magistrate and the civic community.
