Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Valerian I facing right, rendered in the provincial style characteristic of mid-third-century Asia Minor coinage. The effigy displays the radiate wreath of laurel about the head, with visible drapery at the shoulder. The encircling Greek legend runs clockwise around the periphery of the flan. The overall execution reflects the local workshops of the Conventus of Pergamum, with an irregular flan edge typical of hammered provincial bronzes of this period.
