The empress wears an elaborate coiffure with wavy hair drawn back, and a diadem across the brow, with drapery visible at the truncation. The Greek legend Μ ΩΤΑΚ ϹΕΒΗΡΑ ϹΕΒ encircles the effigy, identifying her as Marcia Otacilia Severa Augusta, consort of Philip I. The flan is slightly irregular, and the surface shows an olive-green patina consistent with long-term burial. |
