| Description du revers | Tyche-Euthenia standing facing, head turned to left, holding ears of corn in her right hand and a rudder in her left. To the left, the forepart of a sailing ship is depicted, below which the personification of Thalassa (the Sea) reclines. To the right, the stern of a ship is shown, below which the god Nilus reclines holding a rudder. The composition celebrates the maritime prosperity and agricultural abundance of Alexandria, combining the city's tutelary deity with symbolic references to the Nile and Mediterranean trade. |
