Tabae was a minor Carian city granted the right to strike bronze coinage under Roman provincial administration, a privilege that depended entirely on local magistrates petitioning for — and funding — each issue. The legend ΑΡΧ ϹΤ ΑΠΟΛΛΩΝΙΟΥ names the sitting archon Apollonios, making him personally responsible for this coin's production and, implicitly, its weight and quality.
