The Greek magistrate legend surrounds the figure within a beaded border, referencing the eponymous archon Apollonios. |

Tabae was a minor Carian city granted the right to strike bronze coinage under Roman provincial administration, a privilege that depended entirely on local magistrates petitioning for — and funding — each issue. The legend ΑΡΧ ϹΤ ΑΠΟΛΛΩΝΙΟΥ names the sitting archon Apollonios, making him personally responsible for this coin's production and, implicitly, its weight and quality.
Provincial magistrate coinages from interior Caria under Severus are thinly documented; Tabae's output across this reign survives in very small numbers across major collections.
