She wears the kalathos (modius-shaped crown) atop her head, symbolising abundance and civic prosperity. Her right hand rests upon a large steering rudder, an attribute emblematic of Alexandria's pre-eminence as a maritime and commercial centre. The date legend L Γ (regnal year 3) appears in the lower field, within or below the couch structure, consistent with the Alexandrian dating convention. |
