Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Valerian facing right, depicted from the rear in the characteristic three-quarter back view employed in provincial coinage of this period. The effigy displays a radiate crown of laurel, with paludamentum (military cloak) fastened at the shoulder and the scales of the cuirass visible beneath. The Greek imperial legend encircles the bust along the periphery of the flan. The portrait exhibits the bold, high-relief engraving typical of Mytilenean civic bronzes struck under the joint reign of Valerian and Gallienus.
